Palm Beach Surgical PBHNPG

Areas of Care

We offer comprehensive evaluation and various treatment options for a variety of conditions such as abdominal hernias, digestive system conditions, endocrine disease, skin lesions, breast problems including benign & malignant conditions, and bariatric surgery.

Our surgeons are committed to providing our patients with safe and effective techniques that have been studied extensively. Advanced knowledge and quality medical treatment complement minimally invasive techniques, such as laparoscopy and robotic surgery. This advanced technology can be beneficial to both the patient and the surgeon in terms of improved patient comfort, better operative performance, faster recoveries, shorter hospital stays, and improved cosmetics.

Bariatric Surgery

Bariatric surgery, also known as weight loss surgery, is a proven surgical procedure designed to produce weight loss. Bariatric surgery is typically performed on patients that have a BMI (Body Mass Index) of 35 or greater and may be appropriate for people whose health conditions (such as diabetes, heart disease, or sleep apnea) require weight loss.
Colorectal Surgery PBHN

Colorectal Surgery

Palm Beach Health Network Physician Groups provides comprehensive care for patients with conditions that involve the lower digestive system – the colon, bowel and rectum. When surgery is required, our colorectal surgeons use some of the the latest surgical advances, including minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery, to detect and treat colorectal illnesses and disorders.

Hernia Repair

Palm Beach Surgical physicians offer some of the latest techniques in hernia repair. Our surgeons are experienced in the use  of the latest innovations and technology available to help reduce down time and speed up recovery. Our surgeons offer minimally invasive inguinal, umbilical, ventral, hiatal and incisional hernia repair.

We currently perform procedures with the da Vinci Surgical System (robot). The da Vinci allows us to operate with enhanced vision, precision, and fine motor control. The instrument delivers smaller, more precise movements with tiny instruments while we work with a three dimensional viewer.  The robot is known for “changing the experience of surgery for people around the world,” lowering risk, and increasing recovery outcomes for patients.

Gallbladder Surgery

One of the most commonly performed surgical procedures in the US, this procedure is also known as Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy or Laparoscopic Gallbladder Removal. At Palm Beach Surgical, we offer advanced technology in medical treatment options such as the Mini-Lap Cholecystectomy. This procedure allows us to make smaller incisions, thus helping to provide less trauma to the body for a quicker recovery and return to normal activities. Gallbladder Surgery is usually done at an outpatient surgery center, and requires general anesthesia. In most cases, the patient will go home the same day and he/she can resume normal day-to-day activities within 3-5 days.

General Surgery

At Palm Beach Surgical, we offer diagnosis, preoperative, operative, and postoperative management for general surgical procedures. Due to advances in medical technology, our surgeons can provide quality care to their patients through improved minimally invasive procedures (laparoscopy and robot-assisted surgeries).

The specialty of general surgery encompasses the diagnosis and surgical management of a broad spectrum of conditions. Our surgeons have expertise in the following areas: abdominal and intra-abdominal hernias, digestive system conditions (gallbladder, biliary disease, liver, pancreas & spleen conditions, esophagus & stomach, gastroesophageal reflux disease, large & small intestines, hemorrhoids).

Laparoscopic Minimally Invasive Surgery

Laparoscopic surgery is performed in the abdomen or pelvic area with the aid of a camera. Laparoscopic surgery has numerous advantages over traditional open surgery. For example, the smaller incisions help to minimize trauma to the patient which can reduce pain and hemorrhaging. It can lead to faster recovery times, reduced scarring, and lower postoperative complications. We offer laparoscopic surgery in a number of procedures including inguinal hernia repair, bariatric surgery, and gallbladder removal (cholecystectomy).

Robotic Surgery

Robotic assisted surgery is the latest in precision and accuracy.  During the procedure, a very small 3D camera and tiny surgical instruments are placed inside the patient through a small incision (small incisions heal quicker and leave less scarring).  The camera gives the surgeon a magnified 3D 360-degree view for better maneuverability and accuracy. The surgeon remotely moves the robotic arms from its console and can perform with precision dexterous movements beyond the human ability. Patients have reported experiencing little pain and a faster recovery in comparison to traditional surgery going back to their daily activities sooner.

Results vary depending on goals and effort. Exercise and a proper diet are necessary to achieve and maintain weight loss and muscle definition. Weight loss surgery is generally designed for those with a body mass index (BMI) equal to or greater than 40, or equal to or greater than 35 with serious comorbidities.  Weight loss surgery is considered safe, but like many types of surgery, it does have risks.  Consult with your physician about the risks and benefits of weight loss surgery.
